Before & After – Interior Transformations
The most successful rooms are those that reflect the people who live in them. At Total Design Source we bring your vision to fruition. These are some of our before and after transformations; they are surely designed to inspire!
Our clients couldn’t stand their family room, for obvious reasons. The Architectural elements are all out of proportion; the fireplace opening is too big and the brick surround too small. The cabinets are dwarfed by the scale of the fireplace and the shelves don’t take advantage of the ceiling height. By redesigning the fireplace, millwork and extending the shelves up to the ceiling we created a more pleasing focal wall with a relatable human scale.
Drawing color cues from our clients and their art we were able to use this fabulous Alan Campbell zigzag wallpaper as an accent wall which helps balance the visual weightiness of the two large Taylor King sofas. Drawing this whimsy to the opposite side of the room we covered the lounge chairs in a marvelous Thibaut animal print. The finishing touches were to paint the back wall of the display shelves the same blue as the sofa fabric and then dapple blue and orange accents throughout the room. Our clients now have a warm and welcoming space that is stylish and functional.
It’s always fun to have a blank canvas to work from and clients who appreciate fine quality and craftsmanship. We created a tasteful traditional English style bedroom with Chickadee Floral wallpaper from F Schumacher and beautiful custom bedding with textiles from Rose Cummings, Brunschwig & Fils and Kravet. Our clients are thrilled with their restful sanctuary now.
Sometimes it is important to assess where we are in our lives and determine if our homes support our present lifestyle. This project was a prime example. As our clients approach their empty nest years, they realized they wanted a more open, spacious feeling in their home. By focusing on their main living area, we were able to purchase a few select upholstered pieces and integrate their collection of objects picked up during their years of living abroad to create a more open and inviting space. This room now reflects their personalities and is the heart of all their family gatherings.
